Overview
The Paris Ring Cycle - A Defining Experience of Wagner’s 150th Anniversary Year
In 2026, the opera world marks 150 years since the first complete performance of Richard Wagner’s Der Ring des Nibelungen, a once-in-a-generation milestone. While Ring Cycles schedule throughout the year, the Paris performances in November are among the final opportunities to experience the Ring during this historic anniversary period, offering a special sense of culmination and reflection.
Presented at the Opéra Bastille, one of Europe’s most technologically advanced and acoustically commanding opera houses, the Paris Ring offers a modern, monumental setting worthy of Wagner’s vast musical architecture. Its expansive stage and sonic clarity allow the orchestra, voices, and drama to unfold with precision and scale—qualities essential to a fully realized Ring Cycle.
This production brings together an outstanding Wagnerian cast led by Andreas Schager as Siegfried, whose vocal stamina and heroic intensity place him among today’s foremost interpreters of the role. Tamara Wilson appears as Brünnhilde, while Iain Paterson as Wotan.
To further enriches the drama, Gerhard Siegel as Mime, Brian Mulligan as Alberich, Mika Kares as Fafner, and Marie-Nicole Lemieux as Erda deliver vividly characterized performances, while Ilanah Lobel-Torres provides lyrical contrast as the Voice of the Wood bird. Together, the ensemble creates a Ring that is musically cohesive, dramatically intelligent, and deeply rewarding for experienced listeners.
Our Paris Ring Cycle journey is designed to reflect the artistic stature of these performances. We stay at the luxury InterContinental Paris - Le Grand hotel in the heart of Paris, allowing for a seamless balance between opera evenings and cultural immersion. The program includes thoughtfully paced explorations of the city’s historic quarters, masterworks at the Louvre and Musée d’Orsay, the atmosphere of the Marais, and the luminous beauty of Sainte-Chapelle, along with an excursion to Versailles, gourmet dining experiences and unhurried leisure time ensure space for reflection between performances.

We've done close to a dozen trips with The Aranis and I think I've seen enough to say it: they make it look easy. They've got the energy and sense of purpose to make it so the pieces all click together at the joints, and the tact to make you think they're having fun doing it, which means you have fun; perhaps they do too. We've got many fond memories of our trips with them and we look forward to more.
