Overview
Extend Vienna Tour or Join just Budapest – A Puccini Encore on the Danube
For those wishing to extend their journey after the Vienna Spring Opera Week, we offer an exclusive three-night Budapest Opera Extension in April 2027. We invite you to continue your operatic experience in one of Europe’s most breathtaking capitals. Often called the "Paris of the East," Budapest unveils itself as a city of thermal elegance, imperial grandeur, and a deeply passionate musical soul.
The extension centers on two unforgettable evenings devoted to Puccini. First, a sublime Best of Puccini concert brings together the most beloved arias from the master's repertoire in an intimate celebration of Italian lyricism. Then, the magnificent Hungarian State Opera presents Puccini's Turandot, with Csilla Boross in the formidable title role, Boldizsár László as Calàf, András Palerdi as Timur, and Dénes Gulyás as the Emperor Altoum, all under the baton of Gergely Kesselyák.
Your stay unfolds at the distinguished Budapest Marriott Hotel, a refined five-star retreat in the heart of the city, moments from the Danube, the State Opera House, and the grand boulevards of Pest. Beyond the performances, discover Budapest's wealth of treasures — from the panoramic views of Buda Castle and the Fisherman's Bastion to the neo-Gothic splendor of the Parliament, the historic Chain Bridge, and the world-famous thermal baths of Széchenyi and Gellért.
Three extra nights. Two unforgettable performances. One of Europe's most romantic cities. The perfect coda to your Seven Nights of Masterworks Vienna Opera Spectacular.

Itinerary
Wednesday, April 8. (D). ARRIVE IN BUDAPEST
This morning, we check out of Hotel Sacher Vienna and drive west, crossing the border into Hungary and reach Budapest where we stay three nights at the deluxe Budapest Marriot Hotel with a river view. This evening we will enjoy a superb dinner entertained by musicians at the famous GUNDEL restaurant.
Thursday, April 9. (D). BUDAPEST
Morning sightseeing in this famous twin city will start in Buda with a visit to the 13th century Matthias Church and the Fisherman Bastion. In Pest, the commercial center, we will see St. Stephen’s Basilica, the Hungarian Parliament, Hero Square and the newly restored Synagogue. Afternoon at leisure. This evening we will attend the concert Best of Puccini at the Hungarian State opera.
BUDAPEST is that paradox among Eastern European capitals, a city where the pleasure of the table has lost none of its zing. Happily for visitors enticed by monuments to an opulent past, Hungary’s former imperial city is filled with architectural treasures that have been handsomely preserved. Divided by the wide stately bends of the Danube River, Budapest is two cities in one. The halves present a startling contrast. On the east bank modern, bustling, industrial Pest spreads across the low-lying Hungarian piedmont. On the west, 2000-year old Buda – the historic heart of the city and a pedestrian’s delight – wanders into a bastion of secluded hills.
Friday, April 10. (D). BUDAPEST
Today is free to take a boat ride on the Danube River right next to our hotel or take one of hot baths in Buda or visit any of the fine museums. This evening we will see the opera Turandot by Puccini at the Hungarian State opera.
Sunday, April 11. (B). BUDAPEST – BACK HOME

We've done close to a dozen trips with The Aranis and I think I've seen enough to say it: they make it look easy. They've got the energy and sense of purpose to make it so the pieces all click together at the joints, and the tact to make you think they're having fun doing it, which means you have fun; perhaps they do too. We've got many fond memories of our trips with them and we look forward to more.
