Copenhagen Guide - Grethe Neergaard Arani
Wonderful Copenhagen is my home town where I have been an officially licensed guide since 1970. Let me show you the Little Mermaid and tell you about Hans Christian Andersen. Walk with me to see the Queen's Palace at Amalienborg, drive with me to see the museum of Isak Dinesen (author of "Out of Africa" and "Babettes Feast,") Kronborg Castle, made famous by Shakespeare in his play "Hamlet" or visit Christiansborg Palace where the Danish Parliament meets and the Tivoli Gardens.
Summary: As a true believer of what my fellow countryman Hans Christian Andersen wrote: ”To travel is to live,” I have visited over 100 countries around the world, met the people and learned to speak five languages fluently. But I have always come home to my little country of Denmark, the land of the Vikings.
When I am in Copenhagen, I guide groups as large as 40 persons, to as small as two. It has been my only profession for the past 35 years. When I am not in Copenhagen, I conduct H.A.T. Tours. In 1982 I started my own company, H.A.T. Tours, with special emphasis on operas.
Experience: After becoming an official guide in Denmark, I was hired in by Alumni Flights Abroad, White Plains, New York, to conduct many of their tours in the Far East, India, North Africa, South America, Turkey and Greece. Since 1982, after marrying my world-traveller American husband, I have conducted my own tours and have guided groups in and around Copenhagen.
Language(s): Danish, English, Swedish, Norwegian and German.
Tours: Let us work together and make your very own special tour to suit your time and interests.

The New York Times published: "Copenhagen is in fact one of the sophisticated capitals in Europe. It boasts four of the Continent’s best museums, big-league jazz and dance, a wealth of elegant modern design and architecture, superlative shopping, an ever-increasing number of cutting-edge restaurants and a tolerant, worldly, good-looking, pleasure-loving population. Evelyn Waugh once called the Danes “the most exhilarating people in Europe,” and he wasn’t very far off. …… an article by R.W. Apple, Jr.
